This is a fictional journal for a fictional character played by
izuro at
we_sees_you
CHARACTER'S NAME: Ichigawa Ren
AGE: 28
BIRTH DATE: January 20th, 1982
HOMETOWN: Saito, Miyazaki--> Tokyo
OCCUPATION: Math Teacher at Gekkoukan High School
GRADE: N/A
CLUBS: N/A
SEX: Male
WEAKNESSES: He's extremely carefree and easy-going, which can be a bit of a hindrance at times. His ambiguity can be construed as apathy. Still, he does take interest in things-- and others-- even if it's hard to notice, and he won't stand for those who hurt his friends.
On another note, he's got a pretty crappy immune system and is prone to minor illnesses more often than others might be. It doesn't help that he's a smoker.
STRENGTHS: Despite the fact that he seems to glide through life, he's actually rather charismatic and he manages to inspire others with his, albeit simplistic, words. One way or another, he's good at explaining things, since he was able to become a teacher. Even if he doesn't seem like it, he's an excellent listener. He's also a good problem solver, be it mathematical or otherwise, and is rather intuitive.
WEAPON OF CHOICE: N/A
PERSONA: N/A
PERSONA ABILITIES: N/A
ARCANA: The Star
FACTION: Civilian
PERSONALITY: Ren's one of those teachers where even the students wonder why he became a teacher. Still, it's not the most unfitting job for him; he's good with reasoning and explaining, so despite how dry and bored he can tend to sound while he lectures, he's able to efficiently get his points across.
He's extremely laid-back, and though he doesn't intentionally hide his thoughts, he doesn't often see the point in expressing them, either. Because of this, he generally comes off as disinterested and standoffish, but even if you yell at him for it, it doesn't seem to phase him.
That's not to say that he's completely emotionless, of course. Cross him or one of his close friends and sparks will definitely fly. He has an astounding amount of patience, but that's all the more reason why he's unforgiving if you manage to still upset him beyond that.
BACKGROUND: All his life, Ren would just go with the flow. He never really had many friends-- the other kids always thought he was too self-absorbed since he was generally introverted. He could hold a conversation had they offered, but that was rarely the case. It didn't bother him-- having acquaintances rather than friends. There wasn't much difference in his mind, anyway.
He came from a loving family and had an older brother and sister. They were nice and looked out for him, too, so there wasn't really a need for him to worry about much. His parents weren't too hard on him, either, despite the occasional calls from his teachers about his antisocial tendencies or his “lack of drive.” After all, he was a bright student and did well in school. He just seemed to lack direction, but this, like most things, didn't bother Ren.
High school started off in a similar fashion. It wasn't until his last year, when his parents decided to move to Tokyo, that he started to break away from the routine. Perhaps it was the change of pace, but little by little, Ren started to show signs of improvement as far as socialization went. He still didn't have much more than acquaintances, but he felt inclined enough to strike up conversations here and there or insert his opinion.
And then one day, he started to talk with Akasaka Fuuta. He wasn't so sure what it was about him, but there was something which piqued Ren's interest, and soon enough, the two had become rather good friends. Fuuta was able to open up to him. At first, Ren just listened. It seemed like Fuuta was in a pretty crappy situation, but it seemed more like he was resigned to his fate. Despite all the complaints he had, he never seemed to ask for advice. He just needed to let it out. Ren's listening was more than enough. But one day, he said it.
“Why don't you do something about it?”
He told him if he didn't like his situation, there was no reason why he should have to go through with it. What's the point of living if your life isn't your own? It was just stupid; it was... completely illogical.
From that day, Fuuta started to change, too, and the both of them were always together. Even after graduation, Fuuta came to live with Ren and his family, and the two went on to become teachers at the same school; it seemed fitting to continue life in the school environment where they had both started to change so much.
